Banking on voter stupidity

If you haven’t voted yet, tomorrow is the deadline. Last week’s Washington Poll showed that 73% of voters in King County support I-594, which would require background checks for private gun sales. However, half (48% vs. 48%) ALSO support I-591, which would PROHIBIT background checks for private gun sales. This means at least a quarter of local voters – and probably more among last-minute voters – don’t understand that they’re opposite initiatives.

Please spread the word: I-591 is the NRA’s anti-background check initiative, specifically intended by its sponsors to confuse voters. It’s working. I-594: fewer guns in the hands of dangerous people – YES. I-591: more guns for dangerous people – NO.
